interwar:I’m sure many of you have seen this before, but I would love to introduce to you Quentin Tarantino’s rough draft for 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. I’ve read through the entirety of the script, and I have to say that it is just as, if not more entertaining than the film itself. In the rough draft, it’s made obvious how much intricate work Tarantino puts into his plots and characters. For instance, there are several pages just on Donny Donowitz’s background- a section which was never included in the film. The same goes for many other characters. Tarantino’s original plan for Inglourious Basterds is like one 165-page melange of deleted scenes, side notes, and commentary. At times, I do wish some of what was cut had been included in the finalized version, but then again, with Tarantino, the film would’ve been five or six hours long (maybe more).
